Tuesday 8 November 2022 Year 12 trip to Aston University On Tuesday 8th November, four Year 12 English Language and Literature students sampled a day of university life at Aston University. The day focused on what it would be like to study English, but also gave us a wider insight into life on campus. Our day began with a welcome, followed by a lecture on Point of View in Prose Fiction delivered in a lecture style theatre. This was followed by a tour of the campus where we saw other lecture theatres, the Law school, the impressive library, the sports grounds and the student union bar (which certainly impressed our students!) Following lunch purchased on campus, we ended the day with another lecture and information on the undergraduate courses the university offers. It was the first time some of our students had visited a university so it was great opportunity to get a feel of what their future holds!

Thursday 22 October 2020 B30 Foodbank Donations Every year, our school collects donations for our local food bank to help those less fortunate in the local area. We collect condiments and other foods as well as other essentials they may require. Our school teaches us to be exceptional people and helping others is an excellent way to practice this. This year we had a healthy donation from both staff and students who were kind enough to go out of their way to help out. It is great to see students showing such compassion towards others showing how much we care for everyone no matter the situation they find themselves in. Our school values integrity, compassion and service and by donating to the food bank we live up to these values.

I rehearsed for months with many choirs who had united to form one large choir. We arrived at 5am to get ready to sing. On the same day, one of our present teachers, a former pupil at St ThomasAquinas had the honour of being chosen to be an altar server. She has written a brief summary of her memories of that special day.

Saturday 26 October 2019 Year 13 Trip to Munich What better way to spend the first weekend of the half term break than with 29 students on a History trip to Munich? After a smooth flight into Munich, we caught the S-Bahn to our hotel to check in before heading out for the day. We were treated to warm sunshine and clear skies! We visited the historic centre of Munich and Marienplatz, to search for somewhere to eat. Many of us tucked into traditional Bavarian dishes like pork belly and potato dumplings, or schnitzel and cabbage. Others went for pizza or burgers! Our first historical visit was to the former Nazi Documentation Centre - where we learned about intolerance under the Third Reich as well as the lessons learned from the Nazi period. Afterwards, we took in sights around Munich before heading back to the hotel for a brief rest, and then out to eat in the evening at a local restaurant.Â
