Year 8 Forward Thinking Programme at Birmingham University
On Tuesday 14 June eight Year 8's and Mr Gay went to the University of Birmingham to start their raising aspirations journey. The programme aims to encourage students who come from families with little or no experience of university to aim high and explore the possibility of going to university after school. Following an introduction to the four year programme, the students made Play Doh models of their dream job and built spaghetti towers using just the pasta and marshmallows.
An extensive tour of the university campus was followed by a buffet with friends and family in the Aston Webb Great Hall and a talk from inspirational speaker - Action Jackson! Laura, Summer, Riley, Marie, Gracie, Luliya, Abi and Serenity had a great time and are really looking forward to two days on campus in Year 9.
