Year 12 Futures Day
On Thursday 11th June, Year 12 students began to consider their post-18 options. In the morning, they go to grips with how to be intentional in their decision making, and making the best use of their time in Sixth Form to prepare them for life beyond school. After break, they familiarised themselves with the UCAS platform and started to consider their skills, preferences and potential courses. After lunch, Jeff Chilcote from Aberystwyth University spoke to students about the things they need to consider about Higher Education via a Music Quiz - which was won by Bobby & Neda! Jeff later talked about making the best use of Open Days.
In the evening, Jacob Bannerman from Ahead Partnership led a session on Degree Apprenticeships and the importance of 'standing out' against the competition. Afterwards, Jeff rejoined us to give information on student funding and what financial support there is for aspiring university students, as well as doing a little mythbusting. A big "Thank You!" to Jeff and Jacob for joining us. STACS Sixth Form will support year 12 as they move forward into year 13 with course or apprenticeship searches, applications, interviews, funding questions and personal statement writing - these young people have much to think about (and act upon) in the coming months!
