Year 11 Education Evening and 6th Form Open Evening

On Monday evening this week there was a superb turnout for our Year 11 Education Evening. This important event was, for many parents, the first occasion in a long time in which we've been able to come to school in such a way, so it was lovely to welcome you all back in! Students received academic data which gave them some targets to focus on, and some revision resources to help them make a start on preparing for the forthcoming trial exams. This very special year group have so much potential, and are rich in character, ambition and determination, and their commitment to learning really showed. I am so proud to be their Head of Year!

After hearing from a few speakers, students and their parents were free to explore the many subjects on offer at St Thomas Aquinas Sixth Form, and ask questions to Key Stage 5 teachers about the courses. For the first time we are offering Criminology, which generated lots of interest, but there was a real buzz around the other more traditional, creative and STEM courses too. In the gym, we had careers advisors and apprenticeship course advice for students to discuss.

Well done Year 11 for your attendance and engagement in this very worthwhile evening, and to all the parents who also came to support.
