Year 10 Waiters Day at Experience at UCB

Last week 12 Year 10 Food students had the privilege of taking part in a ‘Waiter’s Day’ at the UCB.

They started the day behind the bar learning how to make mocktails such as Sunset Surprise and Cranberry Coolers and were then given a tour around the catering facilities and the restaurants. Students were shown how to make a floater coffee and let into the secret of how to get the cream to stay neatly on the top.

After some intensive instruction on how to take orders, lay tables and general waitering skills and then some testing by Mr B, our students were ready to be let loose on the general public….and they certainly made us proud! We were inundated by praise and compliments from customers, staff, the UCB students who worked alongside them and also members of the public for their excellent attitude and willingness to take part as well as perfect manners and smart appearance.

It was a great experience and has made many of them seriously consider a career in Hospitality for the future.

As for me, Miss Fluke and Miss Doyle we had an amazing posh lunch and it was lovely to be waited on for a change and not have to do any washing up!

Well done to Kimi, Mia, Amber, Enya, Rueben, Hollie, Ellis-Jay, Charlie, Femi, Ruth, Kashay and Tione who were fantastic ambassadors for our school.
