World Refugee Day Big Assembly

On Thursday we joined with hundreds of schools across the UK to watch a live assembly to mark refugee week.

The whole school logged on to the live stream and heard from a Ukranian student who  had to leave her country because of the war.  There was a question and answer session live from Uganda with a Kenyan refugee who had to leave Kenya due to the war there too.

Each person shared their story of being in a new country due to political unrest.  Learning a new language and fitting in to a new culture was a big challenge.  We have our own refugees in our school.  I hope we make them feel welcome when they arrive at Aquinas!
