Virtual School Council Meeting
Last Wednesday, the School Council met for the first time this year in a new virtual format! Due to restrictions of year group bubbles mixing, the two representatives from each year group accessed the meeting through Microsoft Teams and were able to discuss key matters, using their voice to help drive whole school change.
Initially, the actions from the previous discussions on Mental Health and Wellbeing were reviewed including the 'Smile @ STACS' competition, a review of praise and recognition in the school and the assembly being led by the 6th form leadership team. These measures have been put in place as a direct response to the student voice activities on this theme and have been implemented to help share awareness of mental health in school and provide more ways to boost the motivation and self-esteem of students.
The key theme of this meeting was 'Charities and Fundraising'. All representatives were able to rigorously review their own year group's student voice sheets on this theme and a picture was emerging for future recommendations on charities for the school to link to and fundraising ideas. Following discussions on this theme and some creative and passionate ideas from all representatives, the following were voted on - to raise money in future for mental health charities, to support the idea for a non-uniform day and to try to work with faculties to provide competitions to help raise further money.
Well done to all school council representatives for your commitment to your role and your passion and creativity in sharing ideas for future fundraising in school!
