Summer School 2021
During the first week of the Summer Holidays (26th-30th July) we welcomed over half of our new Year 7s into our Transition Summer School. The aims of the week were:
- To catch up on missed learning
- To begin the transition process
- To learn new skills
Our mantra for the week was ‘Anything is Possible’ and we named our groups after aspiring people such as; Marcus Rashford, Ellie Simmonds, Usain Bolt and Malala Yousafzai.
Over the week students had lessons in the following subjects: English, Maths, Science, Religious Education, Art and Physical Education. They also had the opportunity to try crafts, cookery, gardening and games. All students undertook a one-hour course in first aid and were awarded a certificate for their hard work. They also had the opportunity to explore the school, meet the staff and make new friends.
On the last day students were rewarded for their hard work with a visit from the animal man, bouncy castles and a movie. The week ended with a certificate presentation.
An evaluation was sent to all parents after the week. 100% of parents said their child enjoyed the week, 49% said the best part of the week was making new friends and 100% said that they felt more confident about starting school in September.
