Sixth Form Taster Week
Last week, we had an amazing turn out of students who applied to our 6th form that were invited into school for lessons in the subjects they have chosen to study. The lessons were based on gaining an understanding of what 6th Form lessons are like and to prepare them ahead of their arrival.
With many days missed over the past year due to lockdown, these lessons had an extra flavour in addressing gaps in their understanding. We also invited guest speakers from AimHigher who worked with our students in looking to the future and setting goals. It was great to hear the praise from our guests on how engrossed and mature our students were.
The transition period itself had to be cut short due to new regulations introduced by the government and the teambuilding exercise in the Lickey Hills was sorely missed.
A big thank you for all the planning that went into these 8 days from the staff and also to the students who engaged so well. In speaking with them on the last day, they shared not only how valuable but also how enjoyable the experience was and sad that they missed out on the other days. However, as the ice creams appeared at lunch, soon the smiles returned.
