Sixth Form Homeless Outreach Visit
We were invited to join Fr Cecil on his monthly homeless outreach to the city centre. We volunteered because we were intrigued to find out why so many people are actually homeless. We also wanted to go and help give out drinks.
It was the first time we had actually spoken to the homeless. One man had been homeless for 6 months because his family had rejected him. One had come from Stoke on Trent because he gets more support.
We were surprised that one or two didn’t actually want a hot drink or any food but were just happy to talk. Many did however want the snack packs and hot chocolate that we brought with us.
We certainly feel more appreciative of what we have and hope to go out again in the near future to help the homeless.
