Secondary School Level 2 Indoor Athletics Competition at Colmers School
On Monday 16th January we took year 7 and 8 teams over to Colmers school to compete in the Birmingham Schools, Secondary School Level 2 Indoor Athletics Competition. At this round, we are competing against all the other schools within the Colmers partnership to win a place at the city-wide finals at the NEC in February.
We had great success within the track section of the meet, including 1st places for Erin and Caitlin in the year 8 girls 2 lap Race, 1st places for Oluwamuirede and Mya in the year 7 girls 2 lap race and 1st place for them both again in the 8 lap Paarlauf.
In the field section we also had some fantastic first places, most notably: Erin, Tyson and Niall in the standing triple jump, Caitlin and Tyson in the vertical jump and Saymon in the shot put.
Final results were as follows:
Year 7 Girls – 3rd place ( 1 point behind 2nd)
Year 8 Girls – 2nd place
Year 7 Boys – 2nd place
Year 8 Boys – 3rd place (1 point behind 2nd)
Unfortunately, this means that we do not progress through to the city finals (although our 2nds places are reserves), but the students did fantastically well and we are looking forward to working with them towards our summer athletics meets.
