Rep Theatre Trip – What do you know about me?

Last Friday, a group of fifteen chaplaincy change-makers from years seven and eight, visited the REP Theatre in central Birmingham. The students were invited by the organizers due to their large involvement within the chaplaincy group especially concerning refugees. There, we got an insight of some of the stories of refugees who have fled their countries and have faced trying and difficult times. We were told some of their good memories from their home countries but also their heart-breaking and challenging decisions they made or were forced to make. The performance was expressed through opera singing and music. The actors involved us in the performance by asking us some questions which were the important theme of the play: What do you know about me? ; What would you like to know? We asked each other these questions to get to know each other more. We were also challenged to contemplate on what we found happy, sad or informative about the play and were asked to discuss it with each other. This gave us an even more in depth knowledge and understanding of the lives of refugees. Thank you to the REP theatre for welcoming us, to the talented group of people involved with the performance and Mrs O’Driscoll for volunteering her time to accompany us.
