Red Wednesday and Mass at St Chads
Red Wednesday
Over the last few weeks, we prepared for ‘Red Wednesday’, an initiative organised by ‘Aid to the Church in Need’.
Two year 10 students together with Mr Martin, were filmed and appeared in a video which was broadcast internationally:
Our Year 7 chaplaincy change-maker group made red bracelets, filled cones with red sweets and organised a cake sale.
Mrs Pepper and Mrs Ulmkalns helped the children with face-painting. There was a real buzz around school as students in each year group wrote what they would like to stand up for – against racial injustice and bullying. The money raised will help those around the world who are persecuted for their faith.
Last week we were filmed by a drone in the playground, as the Year 7s spelt the words ‘break the silence’. The Year 9 drama students created a moving mime to the song ‘Break the chain’.
Many people in the world are not allowed to practice their faith, so yesterday we took a student from each form, to St Chad’s Cathedral in Birmingham City Centre. They attended Mass for Christians who are not allowed to go to Mass.
The music was lead by some of our wonderful musicians. The events of the last few weeks were made into an hour long assembly on Wednesday and can be viewed below:

Please continue to pray for those around the world who don’t get the chance to practice religious freedom in their own country. Thank you to all the staff and students who baked cakes and raised over £325 for ACN.
Red Wednesday
Mass at St Chad’s
It was wonderful for our ‘Red Wednesday champions’, who were chosen by their form tutors, to have the opportunity of visiting St Chad’s Cathedral on Wednesday. If your child borrowed a red Summer polo shirt from Student Reception, can they please return it and cross their name off on the list so we know it has been returned.
