Preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation

Some of our students have been preparing to make their Sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist during the last year. We had to delay this event in May and had it rescheduled for 11th November.

When we heard that the second lockdown was due to happen from 5th November, Fr Cecil allowed us to arrange the special Mass for Wednesday 4th November at short notice. Pedro (Year 12) and his sister Isabela (Year 9) brought their family to St John Fisher, along with parishioners and members of staff who came to support them. Pedro chose St Thomas More as his Confirmation name and Isabela St Francis of Assisi.

Fr Cecil asked them to also remember the good works of St Martin De Porres and always try to carry out one of the acts of Mercy each day from praying to visiting the sick or lonely.

It was a truly happy occasion and, as the churches go back into lockdown from Thursday 5th, it was a wonderful way to celebrate Mass together.
