Netball - October 2022
Netball has started with a bang after a couple of weeks to get our players into the swing of training, and teach some of our year 7s the rules. Fixtures have now well and truly begun.
Our Year 11 and Year 9’s were our first competitors on 3rd October, playing away to Swanshurst. Our Year 11s had a challenge on their hands playing the recently demoted from Div 1 team against our recently promoted from Div 3 team. The score did not reflect the game play and positioning but rather did reflect our rushed passing, with Swanshurst utilising any mistakes we made and converting them into goals.
Final score: 24-6 POM: Anne
Our year 9’s have been training hard and working on their basic skills ready for their first game and stormed their way to their first win of the season with some fantastic passing and interceptions made through the middle of the court.
Final score: 9-5 POM: AJ
On Tuesday 11th October, we took our three KS4 teams to King Edwards Five Ways to compete in our annual matches. Each year it goes to and fro over who wins and this year they came out triumphant beating all three of our teams. The girls all played wonderfully and we are starting to see some of the set plays and defence work that we have been using in training and I must admit, even though they lost, their sports(wo)manship was fantastic and they were a joy to take. Final scores and POMs:
Year 9 - Final Score: 8-1 POM: AJ
Year 10 - Final Score: 24-4 POM: Millie
Year 11 - Final Score: 15-7 POM: Mia
