Guernsey 2019
On Tuesday July 10th, the Advance Party, comprising both Year 9 and 10 students, set off to the Channel Islands to set up the campsite ready for Guernsey 2019. In the early hours of the following day, 67 Year 7 students followed. They were about to embark on the trip of a lifetime.
Incredibly, this year saw us celebrating the 35th year of STACS students travelling to the island. Guernsey continues to provide amazing opportunities and experiences for our Year 7 students.
The 10-day camp was truly fantastic and had exceptional weather throughout. The students enjoyed some great times, including:
- Many trips to the beach
- Swimming in the Beau Sejour
- Coastal walk
- Crazy golf
- Visit to the aquarium
- Activities day including sea kayaking, wall climbing, high ropes and archery
We received such a warm welcome by St. Joseph and St. Mary Catholic church to celebrate mass (we are well known in the Parish now!).
Over the ten days, students developed both new and old friendships as well as building strong relationships with the staff who accompanied the trip. The students were a credit to our school on numerous occasions, not just in our opinion but the locals themselves. Members of the public made reference to how polite and well mannered our students were when out and about.
A huge thank you must go to the students in the Advance Party, also to the staff who make this possible - Mr Chapman, Mrs Fluke, Mrs Gay, Mr Hughes, Mr Jaep, Mr O’Sullivan, Miss Simms and Mr Trafford.
