CAFOD Light of the World Assembly

After attending a Cafod event for lay-chaplains recently, I was contacted by Cafod to see if we could provide some pupils from our school choir to sing ‘Silent Night’. for their Advent National Assembly.

Despite being given only a few days to prepare for this, our year 8s rose to the challenge and we recorded the traditional carol in the chapel.

We didn’t know how the recording would appear in the Cafod Assembly but the students appear at the end. They were enthusiastic and willing and were a credit to the school.

More importantly the assembly focuses on climate change and how the Light of Christ has been present through all those who campaigned for climate change leading up to COP26. The Cafod assembly helps us focus on Advent as we prepare to welcome the Light of the world into our lives.
