Bletchley Park and Cyber Security STEM day
Bletchley Park was once the top-secret home of World War II Codebreakers, including Alan Turing, one amongst many other men and women who pioneered the application of technology, computing and mathematics that has evolved into the modern-day aspirational career pathway of Cyber Security.
42 Year 11 and Y12 students of computer science at Aquinas were guided through a behind-the-scenes tour of the site followed by a fully resourced codebreaking workshop led by a team of experts. The workshop included use of an actual Enigma machine which all of our students were encouraged to try. Valued at over £600, 000 this was a particular highlight.
Fully funded by our STEM partner, the Royal Academy of Engineering, this enrichment day exemplifies how we nurture talented students to consider the vast career opportunities that exist for them in applications of STEM subjects they are studying.
