Amazing Diversity & Culture Day
Our annual ‘Diversity Day’ lived up to expectations and was bigger and better this year! We had an awesome display of national dress and flags last year and some of the most incredible singing and dancing throughout the day. I would urge you to look at some of the images on social media.
Mr Vince said the following in the introduction to Mass …
We remember that Jesus has a plan for all our lives, no matter our successes or failures, strengths or weaknesses, achievements or disappointment. Jesus will use our lives to bring about His Kingdom here on Earth.
The family of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School celebrates and delights in our diversity. We reject any idea that difference and change are something to be feared. We stand as a community of welcome that seeks to offer hope to our world fulfilling Jesus' world ‘Father I pray that they may be one’.
We remember all that we have done and said to act against injustice in our world. From acting against climate change, standing against persecution on #RedWednesday, raising money and items for Women of hope (a charity that supports refugees) and serving the homeless in Birmingham city Centre.
We know there are many obstacles to overcome but we also know one act, one word and one person can change this world for the better.
In this our diamond jubilee year we give thanks to God for the transformation of our school community to a large vibrant diverse school that welcomes all abilities, all genders, all races and religious, all sexualities and all creeds.
Let us thank God for this wonderful part of His creation and may God’s Holy Spirit fill our hearts with joy and love to celebrate this wonderful family and to remind us all that we need each other. That we belong here, that we are known and loved and we are a family. As the African proverb Ubuntu reminds us may we remember I am because we are!
