Academic Achievements and Aspirations Evening
On Tuesday, we held our Year 11 Academic Awards & Aspirations Evening. We invited year 11 students who had been nominated by subjects as having outstanding attitudes to learning and excellent levels of achievement in their trial exams and wanted to recognise and celebrate their efforts. our students continue to impress us. Even in the most recent exams, just last week, many of the, improved already fantastic grades. Teachers have struggled to pick just a few worthy individuals and many students were named in several subject areas – so to even just be nominated is a great achievement.
Inspired by the BAFTAs, Brit Awards and Oscars, we gave 'Tommy's' awards to many students, along with two special awards. Valerie Soller-Haussmann was awarded the Aleena Biju Committed Learner Award, and Alf Foster, the Billie-Jayne Award, for a student who shows determination and perseverance in the face of challenges.
Jade Adams from the University of Birmingham talked to the students about their post -18 options for university or degree apprenticeships, and the benefits of staying at STACS Sixth Form due to the 'Pathways to Birmingham University' programme, as well as other pathways to the top universities through other programmes. Mr Adams showed the amazing opportunities and benefits on offer for STACS sixth form students, as well as celebrating our fantastic post 16 results!
Our VIPs also enjoyed some time to take photos under the balloon arch, and have some light refreshments.
