6th Form Taster Day
Last Friday we suspended the Yr 11 timetable to enable get a flavour of expectations at Key Stage 5, whether that was A Levels, Vocational Courses or indeed apprenticeships. Whilst 25 students headed off SSBC with Mr Gay, the rest of our students engaged in some taster lessons that they chose over the course of the day and spent their break and lunch down in the refurbished St Bernadette Centre.
When asking for feedback from faculties, each and every one of them was very complimentary about the students attitude and engagement throughout the day – well done Year 11. Students were also asked for their feedback and completed an online survey. In response to the range of subjects put on, 84% thought this was very good or better. Material covered on the day, saw a response of 87% being excellent and 93% of responses agree that there were clear subject expectations.
In addition to the taster day students were asked if they would like to engage in future STEM events -as a results, 20 students were invited to a STEM event this week with an external guest speaker that was led by Mrs Robertson-Rogers – look out for more of these events to come over the coming weeks.
Big thank you to all the staff who gave up their time to plan and deliver these sessions.
