On Wednesday 26th September, after a day of assessment which included lesson observations and teacher and pupil interviews, our school was given the NACE Challenge Award.
This is a prestigious award that recognises the work schools are doing to ensure that all children, and particularly the most able, are challenged to do their best and to achieve their potential.
NACE stands for the National Association for Able Children in Education .The award recognises not only that a school challenges pupils to their best but also that a school is always trying to improve its standards and provision.
Elaine Ricks and Maxine Slade, who were the assessors on behalf of NACE, spoke particularly warmly about our pupils who were yet again great ambassadors for our school. They spoke about being happy to be part of the community of St Thomas Aquinas, that they felt supported in their learning and that they got on very well with their teachers.
The Award will be formally presented by a member of NACE later on in the term.
Thank you to all the teachers and pupils who helped to make the day a success.
