Year 11 Basketball - Birmingham Cup Final

Colmers 43, STACS 66

On Tuesday, the Year 11 boys basketball team travelled to Colmers to contest the Birmingham Cup Final. This was the same opposition they’d lost to in the Year 10 final and again during the regular season this year, so the boys were in determined mood in their last game of a very successful school career!

There were some excellent players on show for both teams in a high quality occasion, but the game started very scrappy, with lots of turnovers at a frantic pace, STACS edging the first quarter 12-8. However, in the second quarter the boys found their rhythm and a combination of 3 point shots from Tyrese and Richard, plus dominance in the key from Kwaku, Kur and Mason took us to a 26-14 lead at half time. STACS never looked back and as Colmers began to press desperately trying to gain possession, gaps opened up at their end as the boys opened up a 17 point lead by the end of the 3rd and finished in style with a huge 23 point win!

A phenomenal performance by the boys who have proven their desire and resilience to beat a local rival who had previously had the better of us! A fitting end to 5 years with one of the most talented teams in the school, an absolute pleasure to work with such an honest, hard working and committed group. Well done boys, you deserve your success!
