BCP Football Tournament

Last Thursday, a group of boys and girls from Y7/8 travelled to Bishop Walsh School for the annual Birmingham Catholic Partnership 6-a-side football tournament. 6 other Catholic schools from around Birmingham, Solihull and Coventry were in attendance for what was a high quality, competitive event.

Boys’ Competition:
The boys’ team started strongly in their competition and gained confidence as they progressed through the group stages with 4 wins out of 4. They played some superb football and scored some fantastic goals on their way to the final to face St Edmund Campion. Unfortunately, in an evenly matched game, we fell to a 2-0 defeat as the opposition proved just a little more clinical, so we had to settle for 2nd place in the competition. Nevertheless, the boys should be very proud of their efforts!

WON 1-0 v St Peters
WON 4-1 v Cardinal Newman
WON 2-0 v Archbishop Ilsley
WON 2-0 v Bishop Walsh
LOST 2-0 v St Edmund Campion (final)

Girls’ Competition:
The girls provided great energy and enthusiasm in all their games with the intent to play high level football, in which they succeeded. Despite their results, the girls should be proud of their performance and efforts throughout the tournament, competing against high level players from the opposing schools. Overall, the girls finished seventh, which did not reflect their game play  and how closely matched the games were.

Well done girls!

Year 7 Rugby Tournament

On Tuesday, a group of Y7 boys travelled to Birmingham Exiles RFC for the annual RFU Birmingham Emerging Schools Rugby Festival. This was, for many of the inexperienced squad, a first taste of competitive contact rugby and excitement and energy were high as we prepared for the games!

After the three games, we had won two and lost one, having scored 8 tries and conceded only 3. This was a superb effort from a team that had not played together before. The boys learnt a lot and progressed quickly.

LOST v Kings Norton Boys 3 tries to 1
Scorer: Kyle Hall
WON v Park Hall 4 tries to 0
Scorers: Daniel Odogun (x2), Kyle Hall, George Bayliss
WON v Yardleys 3 tries to 0

Well done boys, a great afternoon of rugby!
