Commissioning of MAC liturgy leaders at St Brigidís Church

Some of the Head Teachers and RE Co-ordinators from the Catholic primary schools and I met to decide how to bring together the students of the Lumen Christi MAC in order to celebrate their faith.

We gathered at St Brigid’s church as there were so many liturgy leaders from all the schools and we were unable to fit into the chapel at St Thomas Aquinas!

The Years 7, 8 and 9 liturgy leaders came together with the assistance of Annmerlin Johnson and Patrick Windsor (sixth formers) to discuss what it is to be a disciple of Jesus.  Suzanne O’Malley, the local three parish co-ordinator, designed activities to challenge the children to decide what is the most important action of being a disciple.

The afternoon finished with a prayer service where the students from all the schools were commissioned by Fr Cecil as liturgy leaders.  They received a special Lumen Christi badge and pen.

Let’s hope they go back to their schools as true disciples of Jesus!  A beautiful afternoon where the children sang their hearts out!
