All Saintsí Day Mass

On Wednesday 1st November St Thomas Aquinas celebrated the feast of All Saints by coming together for our first Mass of the academic year.

The Mass opened beautifully with the Year 7 liturgy leaders carrying the boxes with their House ‘Road to sainthood’ commitments in.

It was a joy to see new sixth form students share their faith by becoming Eucharistic ministers.  They were commissioned by Fr Emmanuel alongside members of staff who were re-commissioned too.

Fr Emmanuel was filled with the Holy Spirit as he sang a rendition of ‘Oh when the saints go marching in’.  He reminded us of the saying of Therese of Lisieux who said that saints are ordinary people who do ordinary things in extraordinary ways.

Mr Martin, the head teacher thanked Fr Emmanuel and reiterated that saints are people who believe in something greater than themselves.  He challenged the students to think beyond Halloween and the X Factor and to go out and help and serve other people.

Thank you to all the musicians, readers and those who participated in the processions.

Lay Chaplain
