Year 8 Forward Thinking Trip to Birmingham University

On Monday 19th June 2017, I had the pleasure of taking 4 Year 8 students to Birmingham University as part of the Forward Thinking Programme.  This is a programme that students from Year 8 in our school will take part in until they leave in Year 11.  The programme is designed to help students think about their future choices and encourages them to think about going to university.  The students were met by Birmingham University Ambassadors, who looked after them for the day.  The students completed a series of team-building activities so that they could get to know students from other schools in Birmingham who are part of the programme.  The students' first activity was to design their dream job followed by a Higher Education question and answer session.  After a short break the students were involved in two more team-building activities: 'Course Pictionary' and Spaghetti Tower, followed by a Campus tour.  In the evening the students' parents joined them for an inspirational talk from a motivational speaker plus a student's view.

The students: Caitlin, Connor, Natalia and Rowan were a credit to our school and I am confident that they will be excellent ambassadors for our school over the next few years.
