Year 13 Leavers Mass

On Friday 26th May, Year 13 celebrated their final Mass with Father Stefan, with staff and parents. It was a lovely, reflective occasion with students leading the singing and readings. The opening procession reflected their seven years and in a few cases eight years at St Thomas Aquinas, with a photo montage of the students throughout their time here. Abi Bunting, Nathan Vidaurri and Mrs Bentley led a beautiful Communion reflection of 'As the Deer'.
Head Girl, Charlotte Behan and Head Boy, Dennis Abioye passed on - The Light of Faith - to the current year 7s represented by Alpha Balole and Lucy Keeves.  Year 7 sang a blessing of, "May your life in this world be a happy one", accompanied by Mrs Bentley on piano it was a very special moment.
Charlotte and Dennis gave a touching and amusing speech at the end of the Mass. They spoke about their time at Aquinas and thanked Miss Madden, Mr Martin, Mr Harrison and Mrs Davies, Mr Miastowski and their tutors Mrs Bell, Mr Docherty, Mrs Simpson, Mrs Baker, Mrs Clarke, Miss Jones, Mr Wesbury, Mrs Lavin and Mr Hathaway and Mrs Siddall.  They then watched a short movie of photographs taken since their entry into the school in Year 7.
After Mass, we all went out to the front of school in the sunshine for the year group photograph, taken by Mr Nolan, after which the students enjoyed pizza and wedges and ‘fizzy pop’, in the quad, lovingly prepared by Mrs McGinley and Mrs Doyle and reminisced with their teachers. Many a group photo was taken. Miss Jones made a beautiful cake which Charlotte and Cameron Collier(Deputy Head Boy) cut together. Year 13 would like to pass on their thanks to all staff, past and present, who have supported them over during time at Aquinas, and prepared them so well for their lives ahead.
We look forward to their Leavers’ Ball on Thursday 6th July and their results day in August.
Mrs Davies
Head of Year 13
