Newman House Mass

On Thursday 4th May, Newman House gathered in the main hall for our House mass. Although our numbers were depleted due to the absence of Year 11 and Year 10 exams, the rest of the students in the house did themselves and the school proud with their reverence and participation; it was a wonderful and spiritual occasion.

I was extremely grateful to the students and form teachers in our house who had worked hard, writing prayers and intentions which were used in our display, based on our theme of ‘The Fruits of the Holy Spirit’. Father Emmanuel’s homily gave us all food for thought; It was the perfect opportunity to reflect and think how we could be the best person we could be and the importance of being truthful to ourselves and others. I was very proud that students from each form participated fully. I was especially proud of our Year 7 students who were very keen to take part and all read beautifully.

I would like to say a big 'Thank you' to the students who helped to prepare the mass and participated in the readings and procession, I was immensely proud of you all, as were Mr Harrison and our head teacher, Miss Madden, who also celebrated the wonderful occasion of our house mass.  Thanks also to all members of Newman House, the fantastic team of form tutors Newman is lucky to have, Mr Smith and choir members for the uplifting music and, last but not least, our new Lay Chaplain, Anna O’Driscoll for her help and organisation.
