STACS Crowned Catholic Sports Champions!

On Thursday 25th June, boys and girls from STACS took part in the Catholic Schools' Sports Day at Bishop Walsh School. The event involved teams of 6 students competing across five different sporting activities. The boys’ team participated in indoor rowing, 6x400m relay, basketball, ultimate frisbee and football, and enjoyed success in all their events, winning them all! Highlights were superb team efforts in the rowing and relay and some inspiring individual performances in frisbee, a sport that nobody on the team had played before! The girls took part in indoor rowing, 6x400m relay, volleyball, handball and ultimate frisbee. The team made a solid start, finishing in the top 3 in all of their first 3 events, but unfortunately a nasty fall for Tia Honeyghan in the volleyball, in which she dislocated her knee, threatened to put an end to their hopes. It is of huge credit to all the girls involved how they dealt with this situation and still went on to finish 3rd in the frisbee. We all wish Tia a speedy recovery and a swift return to her sporting endeavours.

Overall, this left the boys in 1st place, with the girls in 3rd. This meant that due to accumulated points over the day, STACS won the competition by 4 points from Bishop Walsh! Well done to all students involved, especially in testing circumstances.

Team lists:
Boys: Miracle, Sam, Peter, Matthew, Jack, Niall.
Girls: Tia, Abbie, Rhema, Layla, Jade, Krystal.
