Year 10 Basketball - Champions of Birmingham

Birmingham Schools Basketball U15 Final: STACS 62, King Edward's Sheldon 53.

On Thursday, the Year 10 boys' basketball team travelled to Bishop Challoner to play their Under 15 Birmingham final against King Edward's Sheldon. This was a team they had lost narrowly to in the final last year and were wary of their opposition, but early nerves subsided as STACS raced into a 6 point lead. STACS were quickly pegged back however, and eventually Sheldon's key players began to have more of an influence on the game, consistently hitting 3-pointers as they opened up a narrow lead. This pattern continued into the second quarter and by half time STACS were down by 10 points and staring another final defeat in the face. However, a rejuvenated offence and more aggressive defence in the third quarter meant STACS began to work away at this deficit, with particular contributions coming from Emanuel Camba's defensive press, Kai Alexander's strong rebounding and Nick Gibbs' clinical finishing from inside the opposition key. After STACS re-took the lead in the fourth quarter, they never looked back and an unlikely comeback had been completed! The team have worked extremely hard for all their success this year and have done the school proud. Well done boys!
