Year 12 Higher Education Week - 4 July 2014

Higher Education Week got off to an excellent start on Friday 4 July when all of our Year 12 students attended the UCAS Fair at the University of Birmingham. They spent the day looking at what all the universities have to offer them in 2015.

Monday began with a talk in school by 'Universities Abroad' and that was followed by a presentation from Northampton University. The students then spent the day searching for appropriate courses and familiarising themselves with the UCAS website. On Tuesday the day started with an assembly by volunteers at Soli House followed by a talk from 'Unifrog' and Birmingham City University. Students also learnt about Personal Statements and had the opportunity to continue course searching and they all registered on the UCAS website. Wednesday was Personal Statement Day and Thursday was another visit to the University of Birmingham where the students received an excellent talk on a variety of important university related topics followed by an excellent free lunch!

On Friday many students were invited in for an individual appointment with Mrs James, Mr Martin and Mr Hindley to discuss their university preparation and academic progress.

We have certainly equipped our students with all they need to make informed decisions about their futures. It was a great week and the students made the most of all the opportunities available to them.

The students are off timetable for the last week of term to enable them to carry out important voluntary work or work experience. Good luck to them all.
