Young Leaders Evaluation Day – 3 July 2014

On Thursday 3 July I accompanied our 4 Young Leaders to Holy Trinity School for their evaluation day; we spent the day with other Young Leaders from local Catholic schools feeding back about the projects they have undertaken during this school year.

All schools who have taken part in the Young Leaders scheme had 5 minutes to feed back on their activities. The schools have been concentrating on projects nominated by CAFOD. Our own Young Leaders fed back about the project they have been supporting: Send All My Friends to School which raises awareness about the lack of primary education for children in developing countries. Some 57 million children worldwide still do not get any education at all. Of those 57 million children 24 million are children who have some sort of disability.

Our Young Leaders have been working with students from Year 7 and 8 in Citizenship lessons, asking for their support to complete a ‘buddy', a picture of a child who does not have access to education. The completed ‘buddies ‘will be passed on to our MP, Richard Burdon, to ask him to raise the issue of the lack of education for children in other countries.

After the feedback, everyone in the group celebrated Mass together and following lunch we headed to the Climbing Centre in Moseley for a climbing session as a final reward for all they have done.

It was a lovely final day to spend together. Well done to Gowsy, Rene, Nadya and Lauren.
