Birmingham DLC Presentation 24 June 2014

On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs Taylor and I had the pleasure of joining other Duke of Edinburgh providers from across the city at the Think-tank museum recognising St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School as a directly licensed centre of the DofE Award. The certificate was presented by the Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Dr Derek Webley MBE, a representative of the Crown and was preceded by an inspirational speech from Phil Brown, Regional Director of the DofE Award in Central England and a silver medallist at the 1984 Olympic games, who spoke about the value of the Duke of Edinburgh Award to young people in helping them to reach their potential. The DofE award is hugely popular at Aquinas and this year we have over 80 students enrolled onto various programmes. As a result of being a DLC, the school can continue to enrich the lives of so many of our students in the future, supporting their self-development and recognising their achievement.
