Year 13 Leavers Mass - 23 May 2014

On Friday 23 May, Year 13 celebrated their final Mass together with staff and parents. It was a lovely, reflective occasion with students leading the singing and readings. The opening procession reflected their seven years at St Thomas Aquinas, with a photo montage of the students throughout their time here.

Year 13 then passed on a candle - The Light of Faith - to the current year 7s represented by Benedict O'Neill and Mary Ellen. Year 7 responded with a beautifully sung blessing "May your life in this world be a happy one"; it was a very emotional moment.

Catherine Laverty and Greg Stanley (our Head Boy and Girl) gave a wonderful speech at the end of the mass. They spoke about their time at Aquinas and thanked their Head of Year, Heads of Houses and teachers. They then watched a short movie of photographs taken since their induction day in Year 6 through to Year 13.

After dodging the rain for the year group photograph the students enjoyed a buffet and reminisced with their teachers. Year 13 would like to pass on their thanks to all staff, past and present, who have supported them over their seven years at Aquinas, and prepared them so well for their lives ahead.

We look forward to their Prom at the end of June and their results day in August.

Mrs James

Head of Year 13
