Friday Letter - Issue 29

DEAR PARENTS

A PRAYER FROM THE YEAR OF FAITH

This is our faith. This is the faith of the Church. We are proud to profess it, in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR AN EASTER BLESSING

Lord You are risen, you are alive. Like the apostles we can only be amazed, struggling to believe that the resurrection is true and real. Bless us in our weak faith. Strengthen us through your resurrection. May the new life you bring to us be a blessing throughout this Eastertide. Amen.

ANN MAGUIRE RIP

We share in the shock of the whole country with the tragic news of Ann's death this week. We have been praying for her, her family and her school community at this terrible time. We ask the Lord to bless Corpus Christi School who have lost someone so dear to them. May she rest in peace.

PARIS TRIP - A REPORT FROM MRS BELL

In the early hours of Friday 11 April, 46 lucky Year 10 students and 5 members of staff climbed aboard the coach ready for a Parisian adventure! By the time we returned back to school just 4 days later, we had seen so many wonderful sights, been to the top of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, enjoyed a wonderful cruise on the River Seine, visited a snail farm and spent a day at Eurodisney. Thank you to Miss Meally, Mrs Stonehill, Mr McInerney and Mr Perry who accompanied the trip and to the fantastic Year 10 students who made every minute enjoyable.

LONDON VISIT - REPORT FROM MR MIASTOWSKI

Before the Easter holidays, a small group of Year 11 students visited London as a reward for all of their work in Citizenship over the last year. The group visited many of the capital's historic, political and cultural sites, watching the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, celebrating Mass at Westminster Cathedral and visiting the Houses of Parliament to name a few. A particular highlight of the trip was a walk up Downing Street to have our picture taken outside Number 10. Well done to Georgina Eggleton, Eilish Hardy, Daniel Plant, Sarah Tierney, Merlin Valiyaparambil, Rachel Wain and Olivia Young for their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the visit. They are a real credit to the school and give so much to their local communities. Thank you also to Miss Edwards for accompanying the students to London.

CITIZENS UK MEETING - REPORT FROM MR MIASTOWSKI

On Wednesday morning, Hannah Kenny and Luke Reeves visited the Police headquarters to form part of a Citizens UK delegation meeting with the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Bob Jones, and his deputy, Yvonne Mosquito. Well done to Hannah and Luke who both spoke so well at the meeting representing the interests of young people.

BELGIUM TRIP - REPORT FROM MRS LAVELLE

Our annual History trip departed in the wee small hours of April 10th 2014. 53 Students and 5 staff ?set off by coach for the long journey to Belgium. This was a particularly special trip as 2014 marks the beginning of the centenary of the First World War. Our students as always made us very proud as they acknowledged the sacrifice made by the millions of men who died serving their country. Having visited the memorials and the military cemeteries and looked at the countless names in each, the words inscribed on the tombs of unknown soldiers have never been truer. 'Their names liveth for evermore'. Full story, photos and video on the website and @STACSHistory!

QUIZ NIGHT AT ST THOMAS AQUINAS COMING SOON

Congratulations to two members of staff who completed the London Marathon during the holiday. I am sure that Mrs Lavin and Mr Martin would have been able to answer the question. The marathon is 26 miles and 385 yards as we were correctly informed by Bethany Field from Year 9 (Martin House 6C). Well done to Bethany who wins £10.
