Forward Thinking Programme - 20th June 2012

On Wednesday 20 th June, I had the pleasure of accompanying a group of Year 8 students to Birmingham University. The students are part of the Forward Thinking Programme - a project that encourages students to explore the benefits of Higher Education.

On our arrival, we were met by Birmingham University Student Ambassadors who looked after our students for the day. We were taken to a large lecture theatre where we listened to, and participated in, a lecture about how British athletes are preparing for the Olympics this Summer and how the University is helping with the training.

This was followed by several workshops led by medical students, which gave our students a feel for how Higher Education can be taught to small groups. Following lunch, we listened to a very interesting lecture about Sports Science and Nutrition. A big thank you to Adam, Charlotte, Emily and Patrick: you were a credit to the school and yourselves!
