Year 7 Inter School Touch Rugby Competition Winners!

On Monday, our Year 7 boys and 'one girl' travelled to King Norton R.F.C. to play in the inaugural Year 7 touch rugby tournament. Six teams took part from three schools. Kings Norton Boys and Turves Green Boys fielded two strong sides each and were competitive throughout the afternoon. Our two teams, which were named St Thomas Aquinas Eagles and St Thomas Aquinas Hawks, performed very well on what was a scorching day in the sun where most people would have been happy to sit in the shade. Our students, however, never stopped running to side step, tackle or deliver time and time again great running and passing moves to score tries over their five games.

We are pleased to announce that St Thomas Aquinas were overall winners of the tournment for 2011. This is a great achievement which we hope to match next year, where the tournament will hopefully grow into a bigger event which will include Year 7 and 8's.

A special mention must be made to Mr John Critchlow from the R.F.U. coaching development team who came into school to train our teams in preparation for the tournament.

The following students can be very proud of themselves.

The player of the tournament was our very own Naoibh McNamee who just so happens was the only young lady in the tournament.
