Guernsey 2011

The teachers said it would be the `trip of a lifetime.' They weren't exaggerating! Guernsey is definitely one of the most beautiful places that I've ever visited and the holiday was one that I will never forget. I got to see all the teachers in a different light as they were far more relaxed than in a school classroom.

Wherever you looked people were smiling, whether they were taking part in one of the many activities at the islands biggest leisure centre, running into the freezing cold sea or listening to Mr. Perry singing his heart out in the kitchen tent whilst helping make our evening meal. Even when a number of students and some staff were taken ill, people still kept smiling and checking that everyone was OK. This really showed how much like a family we were; a ‘Guernsey Family'.

One of my favourite memories of Guernsey was travelling on the mini-buses' with music blasting out and 16 students and teachers singing their hearts out. Another highlight was at the disco on the last night, when the final song, ‘Man In The Mirror', was played. We all had to gather round in a big circle, held hands and sang. When that last song finished, it really made me realise how much I was going to miss Guernsey and my ‘Guernsey family'.

When I found out at the awards evening that I had been awarded Girl Camper of The Year 2011, I was over the moon and so grateful. It was wonderful to know that I was going to be able to experience such an amazing school trip again as a Year 10 Advance Girl.

On behalf of all the students that went to Guernsey, I would like to thank the Year 9 advance boys, the Year 10 advance girls and all the teachers for making this holiday so special, incredibly funny and so memorable for us all.
