Year 13 Leavers Mass

On Friday 27 May, Year 13 celebrated their final Mass together. It was a lovely, reflective occasion with students leading the singing and readings. The opening procession reflected their seven years at St Thomas Aquinas, with photos of the students throughout their time here. The year group remembered all staff and students who shared their time at Aquinas. In a spirit of sadness and thanks, Year 13 remembered their much-loved tutor, Mrs. Johnson.

Miss Samuel recalled their first assembly together in Year 7 and reminded them of her wish "That you shall become caring young adults" - a wish that has come true.

Year 13 then passed on a candle - The Light of Faith - to the current Year 7s, who responded with a beautifully sung blessing - "May your life in this world be a happy one"; there wasn't a dry eye in the congregation.

Tom Farrell spoke on behalf of Year 13 to thank their Head of Year, Miss Samuel, for all her love and devotion to them during their seven years at school. A beautiful hand-written book of memories and photographs from everyone in the year was then presented to Miss Samuel. Tom then passed on the cohort's thanks to the Year 13 Team, including Mrs Kelly, Miss O'Reilly, Mrs Ballantine, Mr Bond, Miss Leigh, and Mr Ruel.

After the year group photograph was taken, the students enjoyed a buffet and reminisced with their teachers over a glass of squash. Year 13 would like to pass on their thanks to all staff, past and present, who have supported them over their seven years at Aquinas, and prepared them so well for their lives ahead.
