Sports Awards July 2012

It was a great pleasure to complete the academic year with the whole school celebrating our sports awards and house competitions in the sports hall on the last day of term.

During the ceremony we had a chance to remind ourselves of all the wonderful opportunities that take place over a very busy year at St Thomas Aquinas school.

Staff from the P.E. faculty and our P.E students spoke about a range of sporting highlights and progress over the year. To round off the ceremony Miss Jordan announced the sports day winners and more importantly which house won the house cup for the year. Well done Martin House!

We would like to thank the following students who spoke during the ceremony. Thanks go to Hayley Hunter, Joe While, Reiss Brayshaw, Rusarn peters, Aidan Davis, Daniel Doherty, Niamh Fitzpatrick, Talia Gaye, Grace Gittings, Bobbi-Ann Taylor and Ella Stephenson all of whom spoke eloquently about the many successes achieved throughout the year.

Our year 7 -11 students demonstrated why they are such exceptional dancers by performing outstandingly in front of an enthralled audience.

It was then the turn of James Norton to do what James Norton does and sing to an audience in the only way he can. Thanks go to James and to our lovely backing singers in Year 9 and 10!

To Mrs Yvonne Murphy who again has been a committed coach and has helped our Senior Netball team to sporting success.

To Kerry Clarke, Siobhan Thomas and Sinead Cannon, our regular Friday night dance coaches who have worked tirelessly throughout the year to ensure that our dance performances are of the highest standard.

To Mr Lowe who has been so busy this year whilst completing his Teaching course but has still found the time to take on the Year 7 football team and Year 8 Basketball team.

Mr Houston
