Gaelic Football Tournament

On Wednesday July 14, our under 14 Gaelic football team travelled to Pairc na hEireann to compete in the Catholic Secondary Schools Tournament. Hopes were high on the bus journey, however when we got there we started to feel a bit nervous. Our first game was against or rivals Bishop Challoner; emotions still ran high and we lost our first game. After a two game break, we composed ourselves and managed a confidence boosting victory against St Peter's. We went straight into our second game and won against Archbishop Ilsley RC School. Our confidence had grown and we were sure we would beat Bishop Challoner when we faced them again in the final. However, due to time constraints we were unable to play and gracefully accepted 2nd place. I was very proud of the way our lads played and especially those who had never played before. Tory Herbert was voted player of the tournament for his consistency and attitude.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank formally Ciaran Clifford and Tom Kirsz who volunteered their time to coach us. Next year lads!

Bilal Yafai, Teresa House
