Year 13 Leavers Mass – 24 May 2013

On Friday 24 May, Year 13 celebrated their final Mass together. It was a lovely, reflective occasion with students leading the singing and readings. The opening procession reflected their seven years at St Thomas Aquinas, with photo montage of the students throughout their time here. The year group remembered all staff and students who shared their time at Aquinas, especially Billie-Jayne Fulford.

Year 13 then passed on a candle - The Light of Faith - to the current year 7s represented by Matthew Higgins and Apple Kwok . Year 7 responded with a beautifully sung blessing "May your life in this world be a happy one"; there wasn't a dry eye in the congregation.

Sam Allen and Megan Sinclair-Brown gave a wonderful speech at the end of the mass. They spoke about their time as Aquinas and thanked Miss Lay and Mr Perry for their support as heads of year. Sam and Megan then passed on the cohort's thanks to the Year 13 Team, including, Miss O'Reilly, Mrs James and Mr Hindley who were presented with gifts.

After the year group photograph was taken, the students enjoyed a buffet and reminisced with their teachers over a glass of squash. Year 13 would like to pass on their thanks to all staff, past and present, who have supported them over their seven years at Aquinas, and prepared them so well for their lives ahead.
