Prefects

Prefects are appointed after interview and consultation with staff and pupils. The Prefect body is a very important part of the School. They lead by example; they encourage, help, support and advise; peer mentor training is provided by Childline.  They are identified by pupils who need their support through the special prefect tie and badge.

Each team is on duty one day a week where they supervise break and lunchtimes and are available to support pupils.  The prefect team are often a source of inspiration to those who aspire to follow in their footsteps.

The prefects have regular meetings and learn to develop their management skills but are aware of the need to seek support and advice when they encounter difficulties. They work closely with staff to help support the routines of the day. Important skills are developed - leadership, delegation, motivation and negotiation.
