Bullying

If you are being bullied or witness someone being bullied

  • Bullying is serious and will not be tolerated in our school
  • If you are being bullied write your name on a piece of paper and write the words 'I'm being bullied"
  • If you know someone who is being bullied HELP them.
  • Hand the paper to a teacher.  They will act quickly.  They will keep secret how they found out.

5 Steps to protect you

Step 1 - Tell Someone

  • •    Tell someone - a friend, a teacher, your parent
  • •    Letting someone know will mean you've got someone to help you
  • •    If a teacher knows they will deal with it seriously

Step 2 - Reporting it

  • •    Don't wait until you're getting upset
  • •    Once you've reported it you'll be asked to record it secretly

Step 3 - Recording it

You'll be asked to record it in a small notebook. Record it like this.  Use these headlines
  • •    What? - brief details
  • •    When? - time
  • •    Where? Place
  • •    Who? - with their names
  • •    Witness - with their names
  • •    What did you do?
  • •    After three entries in your book get it signed
  • •    Action will be taken
  • •    You will be involved.  You will be protected

Step 4 - It's really serious

If it is really serious tell the teacher you've reported to immediately.  They will decide what to do.

Step 5 - Who can help

Sometimes pupils worry about who to tell.  You might not be able to speak with a teacher.  Here are some ideas:
  • •    Older pupils - particularly prefects
  • •    A friend - who can ask to see a teacher
  • •    Write a note - and ask for it to be put in the school office for a teacher you feel you can speak with
  • •    Classroom Assistant or Lunchtime Supervisor
  • •    Mrs Hickey our School Nurse
