Villa Cup Semi Final - 10 March 2010

On Wednesday afternoon our previously undefeated team travelled to Washwood Heath School for the semi-final of the most prestigious cup in local schools football, the Aston Villa Cup. Our opponents yet again were to be Bishop Challenor a team that is always well organised and determined to succeed.

The first half was goalless although Tommies had the better of the game. Good opportunities were created but our front players were hesitant in front of goal.

The second half saw us play with the slope and wind and although we were again well on top, there was a risk of being caught on the counter attack. However, the goal eventually came and it was this good finish from Dale Kenny that was to be the only goal of the match.

Particularly outstanding for us were our captain Jack McGinn and the ever improving Lewis Johnson.

The final is traditionally played at Villa Park but that has to be at the generosity of the club. The date has yet to be announced but is likely to be at the end of May. Tudor Grange School from Solihull will be the opposition in the final.

A big thank you to all the staff and parents who gave their support.
