Over 2 days this week pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 were given an opportunity to take part in a retreat as part of activities week.
As part of the new House system, students went with their fellow House students and house tutors to 4 external venues to take part in games and activities to learn about their House patron. They were also given the opportunity to think about friendships and to help them to get to know other members of their new Houses.
The day ended with a prayer service, giving everyone an opportunity to give thanks for new relationships.
Thank you to the 8 Heads of House and Mrs Tinsley, Mrs Barclay and Miss O'Reilly for preparing for and delivering the retreats.
Mrs Tibbits, Lay Chaplain

It was our very first Sports Day under the house system and competition was fierce at the Hadley Stadium, Bearwood where we enjoyed fantastic weather and a great day. Eventually (and in top secret conditions) I can reveal that the 2010 Champions are Teresa House closely followed by Newman House and John Paul House. Congratulations to Head of Teresa House, Miss Stevens who is currently with the Guernsey Party and everyone involved. It was also terrific to hear of 8 new school records. Congratulations to: Year 7 - Savannah Sparrow (girls' triple jump); Year 8 boys - Craig Haines (shot putt), Rusarn Peters (long jump), Jamal Charles-McCalla (triple jump); Year 8 girls - Ella Stephenson (triple jump); Year 9 girls - Hayley Hunter (200m), Hayley Hunter and Patrice Blake (long jump), Ursula Hardy (triple jump).

Gaelic Football Tournament |
|
On Wednesday July 14, our under 14 Gaelic football team travelled to Pairc na hEireann to compete in the Catholic Secondary Schools Tournament. Hopes were high on the bus journey, however when we got there we started to feel a bit nervous. Our first game was against or rivals Bishop Challoner; emotions still ran high and we lost our first game. After a two game break, we composed ourselves and managed a confidence boosting victory against St Peter's. We went straight into our second game and won against Archbishop Ilsley RC School. Our confidence had grown and we were sure we would beat Bishop Challoner when we faced them again in the final. However, due to time constraints we were unable to play and gracefully accepted 2nd place. I was very proud of the way our lads played and especially those who had never played before. Tory Herbert was voted player of the tournament for his consistency and attitude.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank formally Ciaran Clifford and Tom Kirsz who volunteered their time to coach us. Next year lads!
Bilal Yafai, Teresa House
