Technology

About the Faculty

The faculty for Technology consists of 2 departments; Art & Design and Design & Technology. These are situated on the ground floor near the Newman building and rooms and workshops are specially equipped for Resistant Materials, Graphics, Food and Textiles as well as Art & Design and Pottery. The Faculty also have a central ICT room equipped with Windows 2000/XP networked workstations to enable pupils to access the widest range of learning technologies and resources.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8)

Within all the specific subject areas in D&T at KS3, pupils will cover a variety of projects each year across all specialist subject areas focusing on a variety of different materials, processes and issues relating to Technology, leading to practical outcomes. Within Art & Design pupils will work with a range of media from print-making to ceramics covering varied themes.

Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11)

Key Stage 4 offers a variety of different examination courses including Art & Design, Resistant Materials, Graphic Products and VGCE Art & Design.

Key Stage 5 (Years 12 and 13)

Students may study a variety of examination courses including Art & Design, Food, Product Design, Graphic Design, Textiles and Health and Social Care.
