Science

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Science is based on the ground floor of the main school building. There are 8 specialist laboratories and one teaching room, together with a number of preparation and work rooms. The laboratories are fully equipped to enable pupils to undertake a full range of practical tasks to support and enhance their learning in Science.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8)

At Key Stage 3 all pupils study a broad and balanced science curriculum to cover the requirements of the National Curriculum.

Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11)

In Years 9, 10 and 11 pupils follow a Double Award Modular Science course to GCSE. In recent years we have achieved a 100% pass rate at GCSE.

Key Stage 5 (Post-16)

Post-16 students are able to study AS/A2 courses in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We have good links with the appropriate Science Schools of Birmingham University.

Extra Curricular Activities

Pupils have the opportunity to participate in a number of extra curricular activities to support the Science curriculum. This includes Science Club for Key Stage 3, lectures and workshops for Key Stage 4, and lecture and field trips at A-level.
