Bronze DofE Practice Expedition - Earlswood

On the 14th and 15th May, 45 students from Year 9 took part in a practice expedition around Earlswood as part of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. The weekend was an opportunity for students to learn and develop essential map reading and camp craft skills in preparation for the qualification expedition in June. Students successfully completed the weekend despite some setbacks along the way, including a close encounter with a field full of cows which Miss Browne was the hero of the day. Over the two days’ students learnt about the importance of teamwork and leadership skills and it was a pleasure to see them develop individually and support one another within their walking groups.

A special thank you to all the support and guidance from the staff who made the expedition possible – Miss Browne, Mrs Todd, Mr Bennett, Miss Tinsley, Mr Tinsley, Mr Saunderson, Mr Miastowski, Mr Flood, Ms Clark, Mrs Sullivan, Mr Wesbury, Mr Robinson, Miss Madden and Mrs Burley.
